Xanthe Somers: Poetic Threads 

Exhibition Walk Through & Family Art Day

Free and open to families of all ages.

Please note: this event is first come first served and when we are at capacity, we have a one in one out policy.

 

Family Art Day offers the opportunity to explore the October Gallery with your family when the Gallery is usually closed to the public. ​ ​

​

Suitable for all ages, join us for a special opportunity to explore the exhibition Poetic Threads with exhibiting artist Xanthe Somers and curator Eleri Fanshawe. 

 

Little listeners can get busy with some art exploration, while you tour the Gallery together. Following the walkthrough, families will have the opportunity to sit and make together, creating your own artwork inspired by Somers’ bright ceramic vessels.

Families at the October Gallery 

​

OG Education takes a playful and exploratory approach to family learning by creating imaginative sessions to engage with October Gallery’s current exhibitions. We are committed to creating high quality creative engagements that are inclusive, accessible and free. Currently our sessions run on the second Saturday of the month.

​

We encourage families to explore the gallery and exhibition through many art making activities. Families get a chance to work with various artist educators and members of our OG Youth Collective exploring materials and techniques they may not have tried before in the beautiful gallery setting. 

​​

Our family sessions are FREE and open to children of all ages from 10am-12pm and families can stay as long as they like.
