What We Carry
Join OG Youth Collective for a hands-on workshop responding to Sokari Douglas Camp’s Fashion & Fortune exhibition on National Windrush Day. Using pierced aluminium, embossing, metal painting, fabric and weaving, we will create wearable tokens exploring what we carry, protect, transform and reveal as we move between places, histories, identities and versions of ourselves.
No experience is needed — just bring curiosity and a willingness to experiment with materials and ideas!
You can sign up to join the OG Youth Collective via the form available here or you can just drop-in on the session day.

About The OG Youth Collective
About The OG Youth Collective
The OG Youth Collective is a FREE drop-in art group for young people living in London aged 14–24. We usually meet on the second Monday of every month at October Gallery.
The group is a space for young people to make, experiment, talk, share ideas and connect with contemporary art. Each session responds to current exhibitions at October Gallery, using practical making, discussion and creative exploration to think about identity, culture, materials, storytelling and the world around us.
Recent sessions have included ink and mark-making, print processes, metal work, performance, object-making, exhibition visits and conversations around meaning, memory and belonging. We work with artists, designers, educators and OG youth leaders, exploring a range of creative practices across art, craft, design, fashion, digital media and performance.
The Youth Collective supports young people to develop confidence, creative skills and their own artistic voice. Members can also access work experience, volunteering and youth leadership opportunities, including helping to shape future gallery Education sessions, events and Education exhibitions.
We welcome young people with different levels of experience — whether you are studying art, building a portfolio, interested in creative careers, or simply want a friendly place to make and try things out.
If you would like to find out more about the group, work experience or volunteering opportunities within our education programme, please email Esther Adesigbin at esther@octobergallery.co.uk
Or drop in to a session, no need to book.
What Youth Collective Members say:
'The Youth Collective has been an incredible community. I’ve connected with different people, tried new techniques, and felt real pride seeing our collaborative and personal artworks displayed publicly.' Layla
'Youth Collective is welcoming and creative. I’ve experimented with materials, met like-minded people, exhibited work, and gained paid teaching assistant experience that has supported my personal and career development.' Tom
‘The OG education team have helped me so much and given me the space where I can express myself freely and creatively and even just talk about something that has been on my mind. Whenever I have been having a bad week the YC is always a place I can detach from everything going around and just have a fun time.’ Meera
‘Through the Youth Collective I have visited galleries and exhibitions that I wouldn’t have visited alone, and had amazing in-depth conversations about art with others in the group. Being a part of the Youth Collective helps me to see art in a different way.’ Tessa
‘The OG youth collective has helped me become much more confident within the world of art, it has opened up so many different networks and opportunities that I wouldn’t be able to get elsewhere.’
'Youth Collective has given me confidence as an artist, a sense of community, public exhibition opportunities and paid gallery experience. It has genuinely supported my wellbeing and creative future.' Maya
