About October Gallery Education's Teacher Training Programme

October Gallery Education offers a programme of training for teachers, youth workers and art educators that is rooted in creative practice, cultural awareness and material exploration. Our sessions draw on the gallery’s international network of artists and our long-standing commitment to global perspectives in art education.

Alongside practical making, we explore approaches to teaching that centre empathy, anti-racist practice and the lived experiences of young people. Much of the training is shaped by our ongoing work with the OG Youth Collective and by the gallery’s deep connections to artists from across Africa, the diaspora and the Global South. This includes sessions that reflect on the Black experience, sensory learning, and the role of art in shaping community and identity.

We offer exhibition based in-gallery sessions, as well as bespoke CPD workshops for school departments, teacher training providers, and education teams. INSET day workshops and after-school training can be booked on request.

We also host special events in response to current themes and conversations in the sector, bringing together artists, lecturers and creative professionals to share their practice and open up dialogue.

A practical CPD session for artists, educators and volunteers, focused on building confidence in leading groups and engaging audiences within gallery spaces. Set in response to the exhibition Inheriting the Future, the session offers a live context for exploring facilitation, planning and participant management.

Led by Neysela Da Silva-Reed, an experienced museum and gallery education professional, the session draws on her international practice across London and New York.

Here, at the October Gallery we try to run all our projects and events with little, or no financial cost for our community.

Sadly, this means that we can not offer refunds because the fee is going towards keeping our programme exciting and accessible for ALL art lovers and allows us to keep working as a charity.
