Schools Workshops

7th March - 28th March

Artist and educator Kelly Frank will lead us in exploration of Rachid Koraïchi's  use of calligraphic language and symbols.

Children will be creating symbolic number ‘glyphs’ in ink, using sticks and calligraphy brushes as tools. Responding to artist Rachid Koraïchi's interest in the principles of sufism; Repentance, Sincerity, Remembrance, Love and exploring the focus of the art work of Celestial Blue - the poetry of mystic and writer Ibn ‘Arabi.

Children will create a ‘future prediction’ artwork and games based on their symbol designs. We will experience how words and symbols can be a starting point for enabling students to connect to abstract ideas like, hope and freedom, and discover how these concepts can be unpacked through making art.
