Aubrey Williams: Elemental Force

Elemental Force explores a selection of paintings made by Aubrey Williams between the 1960s and 1980s. This solo show investigates his painterly techniques and his distinctive approach to form and colour. An important contribution to post-war art, these artworks demonstrate a uniquely evolved expression of abstraction.

Our school workshops will respond to Williams' interest in agronomy (soil science) as well as ancient Mayan civilisations. Just as Williams responds to Dmitri Shostakovich's symphonies and quartets through painting, we will also experiment with colour and mark-making inspired by music.
