Thinking the Microcron No.3, 2011. Acrylic on canvas, 85 x 140 cm

4th September - 4th October

Freedom Rising: The Art of Owusu Ankomah brings together the artist's core works from 2008-2014. This exhibition invites you to explore Ankomah's alternative world created through painted glyphs. These hybrid symbols are inspired by adinkra symbols, an important part of traditional wisdom of the Akan people of Ghana.

Our school workshops will respond to the artist’s own spiritual journey and interests in symbolism. Similarly, we will look at the themes Ankomah draws from such as ancient African traditions of rock painting and masquerade, as well as forms of expression. We will also explore printmaking and patterns to create unique and individual worlds.

Here, at the October Gallery we try to run all our projects and events with little, or no financial cost for our community.

Sadly, this means that we can not offer refunds because the fee is going towards keeping our programme exciting and accessible for ALL art lovers and allows us to keep working as a charity.
